SNA: Greater flexibility is needed for meal planning

While lawmakers have granted schools temporary flexibility in the amount of proteins and grains they can serve, the Nutrition Flexibility Act would make the waiver permanent and offer additional flexibility on calorie limits, which some school nutrition professionals say is an ongoing challenge. School Nutrition Association spokeswoman Diane Pratt-Heaver said SNA endorses these changes as "there's definitely a need for more flexibility for meal planning."
