5 teams vie to build second portion of Calif.'s HSR project

The California High-Speed Rail Authority released its request for proposals and invited five teams to bid on the second phase of the state's high-speed rail project, which will span 65 miles. The contract could be worth as much as $2 billion. The teams are: Tutor Perini, Parsons and Zachry Construction, which won the contract for the first phase; California Rail Builders; Dragados/Flatiron/Shimmick; Golden State Rail Partnership; and Skanska-Ames Joint Venture. The contract is expected to be awarded in November.
