Florida Bill Would Overhaul School Laws

State House and Senate negotiators yesterday reached agreement on a bill that would substantially change the state's school laws. A provision in the bill would allow students to pray in schools, distribute religious literature and express their beliefs in artwork and homework. The deal also includes proposals to eliminate automatic pay raises for school board members and to allow school boards to hire principals who aren't trained or certified as educators.
