Survey: Health professionals agree -- medical litigation impacts costs

Three-quarters of health care providers in four states say lawsuits impact the cost of patient health care "a lot," and nine out of 10 doctors are concerned about the effect of medical litigation on the medical practice, according to a new survey from the American Tort Reform Association. The survey covered professionals in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and West Virginia -- the latter three of which the AMA considers medical liability crisis states.
