Obesity rates rise for children and men, remain steady for women

The obesity rate among women in the U.S. leveled off between 1999 and 2004, even as the number of obese children and men continued to climb, federal health officials said. The percentage of American women who were obese remained near 33% during the five-year period, and the biggest increase in obesity occurred in 6- to 11-year-olds.
