Experts: Data consistency, trust key for shift to e-transactions

Health care providers and other groups need to ensure the consistency of data as well as resolve trust issues to speed up the transition to electronic payments, experts said at the HIMSS conference in Chicago. They also noted that while HIPAA requirements, which call for the use of standardized code sets, are designed to facilitate such transactions, variations in information elements and inadequate access to technology are slowing down the process.
