Companies seek to manage currency risk amid wild fluctuations

With the dollar's relationship to other currencies in a state of flux, companies are looking to manage their risk through operational and contractual means and financial hedging. "If everybody's got hedging programs except you, you need to think seriously about putting a program in place, because it's really going to impact your competitive situation in a volatile currency environment," said Campbell Harvey of Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
