EU's Barnier proposes reforms to IASB

Michel Barnier, internal-market commissioner for the EU, proposed an overhaul of the International Accounting Standards Board. Barnier's proposals infuriated accountants and could impede efforts toward global convergence of accounting standards. He suggested that IASB's funding could depend on whether the standards board makes changes to its governance as dictated by the European Commission.
