Hemofiltration method treats patient with avian flu

Doctors in Vietnam have for the first time used a hemofiltration method to remove andotoxins in the blood of and limit organ damage in a patient with H5N1 bird flu. The patient, who no longer responded to Tamiflu owing to delayed treatment, recovered after undergoing the filtration method. A doctor said the expensive method was first used in Japan.
