The inner workings of hospital dietitians

Midland Memorial Hospital has two outpatient dietitians who work with individuals and groups on using diet to manage disease and control weight, as well as three inpatient dietitians who oversee nutrition support and prepare patients for discharge. "Nutrition plays a role in healing. We work with doctors to make sure care plans are set up to ... (help) people heal and get out of the hospital faster," says Jaclynn Tucker, the hospital's director of food and nutrition.
