Tips for breaking free of the boss

It's essential to please the boss, but not if that means getting lost in the shadow of a charismatic, toxic, awkward or bullying superior who makes it impossible for deputies to be recognized for their contributions. Executive coach Gill Corkindale suggests several techniques for breaking free, such as asking the boss for feedback, creating a network within the company and avoiding the pressure to cover for the executive's bad decisions.
