Paychecks keep falling further behind U.S. inflation

U.S. consumers are paying higher prices, but, unlike previous cases of inflation, wages aren't keeping up. While inflation is at a 5.7% annual rate, weekly wages are up only 1.3%. Prices are being pushed up by growing demand from China, India and the Middle East, said Robert Weiner, a professor of international business at George Washington University.
