With Pell Grants in limbo, colleges may alter financial aid offers

It is uncertain whether students who were offered Pell Grants for the coming academic year will receive the full amount as Congress continues to debate the future of the financial aid program. Proposals include lowering the maximum grant award, changing income requirements for students or abolishing Pell Grants entirely. The uncertainty could be particularly hard on low-income students and their families who need more time to plan for college expenses.
