Report: Calif.'s 3 big utilities made gains in renewable power in 2010

California's three biggest utilities made gains in renewable power in 2010, nearly reaching the state's 20% renewable-energy standard, according to the quarterly report from the state Public Utilities Commission. Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric and Pacific Gas & Electric received 17.9% of their electricity from "new" renewable-energy sources in 2010, compared with 15.4% in 2009, the report said.
