Senate bill seeks to boost investment in STEM education

A Senate bill proposes ways for the country to narrow the technology gap with Asian countries by giving high school students extensive access to innovative programs in science, technology, engineering and math education. "What we know is that young people who participate in these programs are much more likely to get excited about these subjects, science and math and engineering and technology," said Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., sponsor of the bill. "They are more likely to go to college to major in these subjects... So this is one of the areas where we need to invest."
