Upgrades to Amtrak's NE Corridor, Gateway Project could cost $1.3B

Amtrak is looking for $1.3 billion in federal aid to improve its two key projects. The plan includes $450 million for the Northeast Corridor to improve the Philadelphia-to-New-York route and increase the speed of trains on those tracks. It also includes funds for the "Gateway Project" that would enhance reliability into New York City and raise capacity on the line.
