FDA looks for online drug research text-mining platform

The FDA has issued a request for proposals on the development of a scalable and Windows-compatible text-mining program that leverages natural language processing and is accessible through an online portal. The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research will use the platform "to rapidly analyze documents to find therapeutically useful and possibly unknown associations between drugs, disease processes, adverse events and therapeutic agents," according to the agency.
