DSSD, a chip company started three years ago by Sun Microsystems veterans, is still operating in stealth mode, but there are some indications about what it's up to, Stacey Higginbotham writes. Sources say the startup is developing a module designed to improve the performance of data storage systems for applications in Big Data analytics, she notes. DSSD is financially backed by Andy Bechtolsheim, a co-founder of Sun and Arista Networks.
