D.C. luxury hotels see slower business since inauguration

The presidential inauguration helped give Washington, D.C.-area luxury hotels a 2% boost in January compared with the same month in 2008, but bookings have slowed since then, along with bookings in the rest of the nation. The city hopes public criticism of lavish business trips could work in its favor, as its reputation as a strictly business town could represent a more appropriate setting for a meeting than somewhere such as Las Vegas.
