Research shows broccoli might keep stomach illness at bay

A small study by Japanese researchers found people who ate 2.5 ounces of baby broccoli daily over two months had increased protection from Helicobacter pylori and other gastric problems, including ulcers and stomach cancer. Broccoli sprouts contain sulforaphane, a natural biochemical that triggers production of enzymes in the gut that protect against inflammation and DNA-damaging chemicals.
