Southern California attracts larger cruise ships

Southern California was once considered a dumping ground for cruise lines' older ships, but now the region is attracting bigger and better ships for Hawaiian and Mexican itineraries. Disney Cruise Line plans to home port its Disney Wonder in the area for at least two years, the 2,974-passenger Carnival Splendor is operating out of Long Beach and Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas is stationed in Los Angeles.
