Best Buy pushes a new public policy agenda

Consumer-electronics retailer Best Buy is relatively new to the lobbying scene, having hired its first in-house, Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist a few months ago. The chain was spurred to ramp up efforts in light of several issues that could affect its business, including the FCC's new broadband plan and the sales tax "loophole" enjoyed by online merchants. Best Buy's lobbyist also sees a need for legislation regarding recycling of consumer electronics.
