China's buildings built to last just 30 years

Chinese developers are being urged to increase the life span of buildings, which in China are often designed to last just 20 to 30 years -- creating a huge amount of waste. In the U.S., a building is typically blueprinted to last 50 years. Yearly, China's construction industry eats up 40% of the world's cement and steel.
