Are students benefiting from the growth in online learning?

More K-12 students across the country are taking at least some of their courses online -- from electives and Advanced Placement to credit recovery -- a trend proponents say is expanding opportunities for students. However, the growing popularity of the courses concerns some about the lack of research on whether online classes offer the same level of quality as face-to-face instruction and whether the push for online learning is motivated primarily by schools' desire to cut costs for teachers and classrooms.
