Report finds sizable quantities of shale gas outside the U.S.

Forty-eight shale natural gas basins in 32 countries contain 5,760 trillion cubic feet of recoverable resources, compared with the U.S. total of 862 trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable gas in shale formations, according to a report from the Energy Information Administration. "Although the shale gas resource estimates will likely change over time as additional information becomes available, the report shows that the international shale gas resource base is vast," the report said.
