Syria allows teachers to wear Islamic veils

Syria has reversed an earlier order banning the country's teachers from wearing Islamic veils. The decision comes amid a pro-democracy uprising in the country. Syria had transferred hundreds of primary-school teachers out of the classroom for wearing the veils. However, officials now say those teachers, who took administrative jobs, may return.
