U.K. regulators to postpone reactor-design clearances

U.K. regulators will postpone interim clearance for new reactors for at least three months for a study of what Japan's nuclear crisis means for the projects. The Health and Safety Executive had planned June approvals for reactor designs from Toshiba unit Westinghouse, as well as from Areva and Electricite de France. "It is important that we take the necessary time needed to ensure that we learn any relevant lessons emerging from the events in Japan, and implement any improvements that might be required to the new reactor designs," the HSE said.
