Agios presents encouraging results of leukemia drug trial

In the first clinical trial of Agios' AG-221 for acute myeloid leukemia with a specific mutation, three out of the seven patients who completed the study experienced complete remission while the conditions of another three improved. The drug could help reduce the need for bone marrow transplants, said Dr. Eytan Stein, who presented the results at the 2014 American Association for Cancer Research meeting.
