Kinetic Concepts to pay $1.7B for LifeCell

Kinetic Concepts will pay $1.7 billion in cash to purchase LifeCell Corp. in order to tap into the market for surgery products manufactured from donated human cells. The deal, which the boards of both companies approved, allows Kinetic to acquire a biosurgery unit and AlloDerm, a product made from human skin tissue used in general surgeries and dental procedures.
