Women with IBD more likely to have abnormal Pap smears

A new study found women with inflammatory bowel disease were 4.3 times more likely to have an abnormal Pap smear, and IBD patients on immunosuppressants were 4.5 times more likely, compared with healthy controls. Researchers said it is unclear whether the disparity is a result of altered immunity or other factors. Read the abstract in the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
