An internal committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers will not file ethical misconduct allegations against its executives for their role in a review of levee failures in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The group made the decision after an extensive investigation of claims by critics that the executives and the Army Corps of Engineers tried to undermine independent investigations. It did find that an ASCE news release contained two errors. ASCE President Wayne Klotz said the investigation conducted by ASCE's Committee on Professional Conduct "should reaffirm confidence in the findings and recommendations generated by the significant body of scientific research related to the performance of the New Orleans Hurricane Protection System."
