New porous pavement uses glass to minimize runoff

Recycled glass is a key component of a new type of porous pavement designed to minimize runoff. Dubbed FilterPave, the pavement percolates stormwater into the ground or a storage system located underground. Presto Geosystems and Kaul Corp. designed the pavement, which is ideal for driveways, landscaped areas, golf-cart paths and other areas that must have a smooth, hard surface. The companies decided to use glass in the pavement because it is inexpensive and readily available.
