Budget woes may force return to 9-month schedule in Nevada district

The majority of 76 year-round schools in Nevada's Clark County could find their schedules shortened to nine months to help close a budget deficit of $123 million, officials say. Some educators fear that gains made at schools where the majority of students are low-income and speak limited English may be lost under reduced schedules, but some families said they would welcome the return to a traditional schedule.
