Fla. governor questions merit-pay impact on special-education teachers

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is calling on state lawmakers to temper controversial legislation that would link educator pay to their students' performance. Crist previously appeared to support the bill, but said he is concerned with how the bill's student-progress requirements will affect special-education teachers. Crist said Wednesday that he does not want to veto the bill and urged lawmakers to accept amendments, which have been blocked.
