Retailers increasingly are using social-media Web sites such as Facebook and Twitter to engage with customers, though the verdict still is out on how much they impact sales. Many retailers use the sites to nurture relationships and get away from a strict sales-based approach to marketing. But some are making the move to using the sites to advertise promotions.
