Lawmakers eye cuts to tax incentives for retirement-plan contributions

Tax deferrals on retirement vehicles such as IRAs, 401(k) plans and variable annuities are among the incentives that should be trimmed or eliminated, say some lawmakers considering tax-reform measures. These tax expenditures make up about $1 trillion annually in missed federal revenue every year, they say.
