Florida's Harmony High School has a new student group focused on charitable giving. The Osceola County school has a class in which students research local charities, and with the funds provided by a private donor, distribute grants totaling $6,000 to the organizations selected by the class. Eric Hansen, their government teacher, said the experience has boosted the students' confidence. "They carry themselves differently," Hansen said. "They're not just caught up in that texting-video game culture."
