People with low-wage jobs and little job security have higher divorce rates are less involved in their communities, says Paul Osterman, a professor at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, who recently conducted research on the issue. "They can’t keep their homes, they can’t take care of their own health," he says. "It’s all tied to the economic pressure people are under."
