Chemical industry lauds House measure to reform TSCA

Industry groups are hailing a provision in the Chemicals in Commerce Act that would split the inventory of chemicals in current use into active and inactive lists to focus the Environmental Protection Agency's safety efforts. The bill "is a clear improvement over the status quo" and shares many provisions with the Senate version of legislation to revamp the Toxic Substances Control Act, said Boron Specialties President Beth Bosley. Dow Chemical executive Connie DeFord called on a House subcommittee to "improve, approve and move this bill so that enactment of TSCA reform becomes a reality this year."
