Crawfordsville, Ind., school district's registered dietitian, Angie Frost, was among the nutrition experts who met in Washington, D.C., to talk about school lunch programs. She also met with lawmakers from her state to say nutrition guidelines are working, even though there is some resistance. The district was an early participant in the U.S. Agriculture Department's HealthierUS School Challenge. Frost said offering students choices in fruits and vegetables and creating a positive environment were important to making the program successful.
