India lacks sufficient resources for drug inspections, regulator says

Authorities in India lack enough inspectors to ensure the safety of the domestic and export drug supply, the chief regulator for Haryana state says. Inspectors also lack enough vehicles to travel to all 10,000 factories and do not have adequate storage space for seized products. Officials say they plan to increase the number of inspectors from about 1,500 now to 5,000 within three to five years.
