N.J. program to elevate more than 2 dozen homes in Sandy-hit town

New Jersey's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program is set to provide grant funding to elevate 26 homes in Brigantine, which was heavily affected by Hurricane Sandy. "In addition to moving people and property out of harm's way, elevating homes will reduce flood insurance premiums for homeowners by helping them comply with [Federal Emergency Management Agency] flood maps," said Bob Martin, commissioner of the state Department of Environmental Protection.
