Study estimates lifetime cost of childhood obesity

Childhood obesity carries an estimated price tag of $19,000 per child in lifetime direct medical costs, according to a report released Monday in the journal Pediatrics. If the estimate were applied for all obese 10-year-olds in the U.S., the medical costs over a lifetime would be about $14 billion, the report says.
