Survey finds shifting employer benefit strategies

While employers increasingly shift to consumer-directed health plans, they are also increasingly aware that a healthy workforce is a more productive workforce, a recent survey found. Nearly half of employers with wellness programs that encourage healthy habits reported lower medical costs or improved workforce risk profiles, and two-thirds said their top cost-containment strategy is to provide employees with tools and information to become better health care consumers.
