Journal criticizes FDA for delay in approving "Plan B" contraceptive

The FDA drug-approval decision-making process is being "influenced by political considerations," says an editorial in the New England Journal of Medicine. The journal cited the agency's postponement of a decision over the "Plan B" morning-after contraceptive pill and said any other drug with a similar track record of safety "would be approved quickly."
