Real estate is making more money for shareholders so far this year, Steven Syre writes in a Boston Globe commentary. He notes that the Bloomberg REIT index has earned a total return of 7.9% this year after declining nearly 17% last year. "REITs are fairly valued and equally likely to outperform or underperform the broader market from here," says J. Scott Craig, manager of the Eaton Vance Real Estate Fund.
