HP settles Aussie WLAN patent dispute

Hewlett-Packard has settled a lawsuit with an Australian government agency on a dispute over a U.S. patent for wireless LAN equipment that could have broad implications for all IEEE 802.11 WLAN equipment, according to a report. HP reportedly broke ranks with a number of other tech companies that the agency had sued in 2005 seeking royalties for the patent.
