Sharfstein asks FDA personnel to help revamp agency

Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, acting commissioner of the FDA, sent out a memo calling for employees to present "short-term ideas" to overhaul the agency, including proposals for policies, programs and partnerships. He plans to share these recommendations with Dr. Margaret Hamburg, who is awaiting Senate confirmation as FDA chief, so they can set "the right direction for the agency over time."
