Why the future could belong to Linux

The head of the Linux Foundation predicts that the weak economy, the redefinition of the desktop and cloud computing will drive more users to the open-source platform, which is popping up in unexpected places. "The economic downturn is more than just marketing hype for open-source and Linux as a way to cut costs," Linux Foundation Executive Director Jim Zemlin said at a conference.
