The failure of Lehman Brothers gets the full-blown Hollywood treatment in this gossipy and often exhilarating work, "the closest thing to a bodice-ripper that the 2008 meltdown is likely to produce," according to this reviewer. Ward turns the bank's collapse into an operatic tragedy, and while she doesn't delve into the technical details of the meltdown, she clearly enjoys skewering the excesses of Lehman's high-paid, high-powered bosses.
